Jeff Root began his insurance career the traditional way as defined by the thousands of people before him. Jeff knew there was a better way and even a way that allowed him location independence. Jeff figured out how to sell life insurance online and has created a podcast to share his strategies and tips. Jeff obtained his license to sell insurance back in 2005. He sold insurance face-to-face for two years and then worked in a call center for another two years. While working in both of those positions, he noticed an increasing trend of people purchasing online. Seeing this opportunity, he started his own business of providing insurance as well as other services online.
Now Jeff not only sells insurance, but he’s also a podcaster who creates content to help other people find the resources they need. His content is related to insurance, how he made his business an online business and how doing so allowed him to create a six figure income in only eight months.
In this episode, Jeff talks about his experience moving his business online and how focusing his business towards a small but highly targeted niche has helped him grow. He also shares how podcasting and creating content for his target market has allowed him to laser focus his market while continuing to learn along the way. Jeff found that in his industry, people would rather work with an individual behind a website instead of a huge conglomerate.
So, Jeff took his work online and focused on a very specific niche. When he became an expert in that niche, he received countless referrals from satisfied customers. His deals were mentioned in forums and he was contacted as a result of those mentions. That’s why Jeff says if you have a unique sales proposition and if you know who the real profitable customers are, you should be the clear winner.
Even if there is competition in the market, there shouldn’t be a choice and customers should come directly to you. And you don’t need a ton of customers to be successful, just a select target market and you’re on your way.
Jeff also talks about how his podcast has helped him to learn from his own experiences. His podcast downloads and email list might not be huge, but the revenue he can generate is!
This means that as long as you know how to market and you are the expert in your niche, you will definitely be the one generating the most leads. Your voice will be heard by your customers and if you can reach their ear buds, all the better!
