David’s Target Audience: David’s target market is creative entrepreneurs like bloggers, writers, and authors who he want to build an audience and bring loyalty to their business.
David worked in the music business for 20 years helping musicians sell records and concert tickets to generate money. About 2 years ago, he came out with a music business book that transcended the music business.
After his book was published, he was contacted by a flood of creative entrepreneurs in other industries. Now, he uses his experience in the music industry to help his target market grow their business and sell their products.
In this episode, David talks about building an audience using traditional as well as guerilla marketing techniques. He says that if you want people to love your products and be loyal, then you must combine different marketing techniques. Consistency in your work is also required. When you have that combination, you will have people who will follow your work and tell their friends about it.
David also shares his story and real-life examples of revisiting the trenches to better understand who you are serving and what their needs are. Also, it is wise to know that when you revisit the trenches, it can be a distraction from other important work so keep that in mind and take steps to prevent it from happening.
He also shares about the transition from building an audience to becoming famous or “business famous”. For this, you have to be consistent with your word, do what you promised and never lie. Eventually, you will earn the respect which you can then build upon. But David warns not following up on your promises will ruin you so be your word.
David also talks about the mindset triggers required to be successful in a business as well as how to learn to let go and let other do it for you. You have to learn to trust the abilities of other people. But before you do any of those things, you have to make sure that these people work as hard as you do.
