The Mindset Shift that Drives Empowerment – Behind the Scenes

However, leaders that look for an edge over the competition or just looking for more leverage over what they are doing know the power of a mindset shift. When you can change your perspective or core beliefs, you are performing a mindset shift. My work as an executive coach is grounded in the mindset shift first, then take action. Today, we look at what gets in the way of empowerment. In the short video, you will get a story of one leader’s change in belief to improve performance within his team. Today, I wanna talk to you about empowerment. And in fact, I want to talk to you about really is the mindset shift that you have to make. And it really will unlock something inside your own leadership. Your team empowerment is something that we all want to do, but for some reason, there’s some resistance behind that.

[00:00:20] And today I’m going to help you get to the heart of that. And when we look at the mindset of it, the mindset is the way you see it. See the world. It’s about what you believe. It’s about what you think is impossible. And sometimes it’s the little inner dialogue that you have with yourself. It’s an inner critic that stops you. And so when you understand that mindset is the key to you being different than you are today, getting different results. It starts with mindset. You have to take action, but you want to take action through the right mindset. And so I was talking with a bunch of founders the other day from the Inc 5,000 and this whole concept of empowerment came up and he wanted to share a story. And I’m going to relay that story to you. I’m going to keep his name private because I didn’t get permission to share, but I just think it’s a really powerful moment. He said I’ve come to realize that I was getting in the way of my own success. I was getting in the way. Of the company growing. And in fact, I’m the bottleneck.

[00:01:24] I’ve done some better, the videos around this, you can check out that content, but I was listening in to him and he’s like, I realized it came down to my mindset and the smile. And I said, well, what was the real the turning factor here he goes. I used to believe that people can’t do it. And I have, you know, a lot of employees, and if I believe they can’t do it really ever do I let go enough and truly trust them, truly empower them. And so it was getting in the way of the company and I became the bottleneck of the company and I said, well, what was the shift you made? He goes, I decided to, whenever I felt myself thinking that people can’t do it, that I would change that thought to people are amazing. People are amazing is a pretty simple sentence.

[00:02:16] Is it true? Not everyone’s amazing, but the people inside of his company, they can be amazing, right? The people inside your company can be amazing. So he decided to every time he would think people can’t do it, that he would change that thought and really reflect on it, that people are amazing. Now I share this story with you because it has such an incredible conclusion that I really wanted you to know the story.

[00:02:44] When he said I started doing this on a regular basis, I started letting go. I started giving space. I started empowering people because I believe that people are amazing. And what happened next was he goes, they surprised me. They came back over and over again. To be able to share results, things that I wouldn’t have known how to get through all, because I believe that people are amazing instead of that, people can’t do it now. I don’t know what you’re going to do with this story, but I’m here to help you be the best leader you can be. I run a group of people called fast-growth boardroom. That really is about understanding leadership, understanding what that means to drive growth. We share with each other, the things that are necessary for us to do this.

[00:03:35] There’s a coaching component to it. So you get to talk to me directly there’s content, where we create training and everything that helped you really understand this. And then we also create a community of people that are other extraordinary leaders. We do some fun things like racing, cars and snowmobiles, and dune, buggy racing, all that aside. The real core of it. A fast-growth boardroom is about being an extraordinary leader. We use everything we can to help you be an extraordinary leader, help you push beyond this. Now, most of my clients are Inc 5,000, but we decided to sort of special version of this for people that aren’t on the Inc 5,000, maybe they want to be, or maybe they’re just, they just want to continue to grow from where they are an eight, 5,000.

[00:04:21] It’s just not something they want to do. So you can actually still be in the fast-growth boardroom. If you’re not on Inc 5,000, you’ll just be in a different slice of it. You’ll get to come together at certain times with, with our founders of fast-growth companies, a part of the community, but the core of this is you being. An extraordinary leader. This whole story was about empowerment and about shifting the mindset. I’m here to share with you stories like tools like this, to help you be the leader that your team deserves. When you think about leadership and you think about growth, think of Growth Think Tank as always lead with courage. We’ll see you next time.
