What is your one thing? Yeah, it’s a powerful question. What is the one thing that if you do it everything else gets easier or not necessary? I don’t know if I’ve quoted that exactly right, but I really love this whole concept of the one thing. Comes from the book “The One Thing” by J. Papason and Gary Keller.
They are part of the publishing arm of Keller-Williams. And I had a chance to sit down with the VP of “The One Thing” Jeff Woods to talk about his one thing and talk about how he is leading the charge inside of a huge empire as an internal brand ambassador.
This series is a lot about the internal brand ambassadors that are able to take a message and clarify it across the internal employees but also share it with external.
There’s one thing I wanna share with you that really drives this message home, and if you really wanna understand this, you can go into the interview and see that. Just go to leadersinthetrenches.com/301. But what the concept is, is are you willing to live it? This comes from Jeff specifically. Live it, live it every day is about the one thing, about having the clarity and having the confidence to just pick the one thing that needs to be done and live that. Now, this whole conversation triggered something inside of me.
I’ve talked with Jay before; I’ve read the book before. But Jeff just explained it in such a way that I just embodied it in a new deeper way, and I got really clear about my one thing.
I won’t share it with you today, but inside the interview, I talk about a lot of this information and we get details inside of what Jeff Woods is doing as an internal brand ambassador to share the message. So if you’re thinking about being an internal brand ambassador inside of a company, this episode will help you understand some of those core concepts, what he’s doing, but also if you are a leader, if you’re a CEO, you should be inspiring this.
I’ve been studying hyper-growth companies, and the one way to inspire others is to get them to take ownership, get them to really go beyond responsibility. That hyper-growth comes from that level of ownership that they’re willing to carry for you and the company.
Now this series on brand ambassadors is gonna go on a few episodes, so tune in to leadersinthetrenches.com/301 and you can find out about Jeff Woods.
